Dear Student Body,
     I wanted to thank you all for voting in the Savory Awards and nominating for the Student Choice Awards. There are a lot of changes happening on campus and we want your feed back. If there is any concerns you have about what is happening on the campus or anything you want to brag about, you can post a comment on this post. We want your feedback and your ideas. You are the voice of the campus and you matter.

CCSGA SENATE MINUTES
November 6, 2012

·         Executive Board Reports
-SGA Secretary: Thanks everyone for voting again for Savory despite technical difficulties. Announces that Student Choice Award nominations are coming up.
-SGA Treasurer: Allocations Nov. 27th (BLC 101 – 12:30pm)
·         Class Reports
-Senior Class: Savory Award Winner announced tomorrow, planning for Senior Day, Senior Gift, and Follies
-Junior Class: Jr. Ring Ceremony (Nov. 16th). Email Ana or Claudia for Ring Ceremony details
-Sophomore Class: Senior Chapel and helping with Jr. Ring Ceremony
-First Year Class: Class meeting Nov. 12th
·         Unfinished Business
-Fundraiser Ideas: Both President for a Day and T-shirt sale was approved for Fall and Spring Semester.
-Pen Campaign (10 minute discussion):
            Carrie: mailboxes
            Chloe: mailboxes are an issue – likes face to face interaction
            Claudia: Should be a split decision (either face to face or mailbox) –
Thinks there may be a conflict of interest
            Shade: How would you know how a student’s performing?
            Lucy: Could be given to those who do something outside the classroom
            How would we all keep track? Secretary: GoogleDocs?
            Chloe: Should only do it within classes (Senior, Jr., etc.)
            Decision: Pens should be given either by mailbox or face to face, not kept track of, and should have a personalized note attached to them (with Senate Logo on a business card)
·         New Business
-Holiday Ornament Tradition: Decided that Organizations and Departments should participate. Ornaments were said to not be permanent (because the tree is outside). Should be to the discretion of the organization/department whether to have the ornament storebrought or handmade. Lucy, Carrie, Brittany, Jasmine, Michelle, and Ana are going to collaborate on SGA’s ornament.
-Professionalism with Social Media: be mindful of what you put on social media – may lose positions over carelessness, suggested that people be brought to the review board for misconduct on Social Media – bring misconduct to the attention of someone in authority.
-Dining Services Update: Food Drive and recently gave out survey. Fill out comment cards to relay requests and complaints.
-Open Comments: Smoking in dangerous areas is still a problAnnoem for some students (call CCPD). Sophomore calling for more parking spaces (can only park w/decal if you park in staff parking spots. Visitors can also get a temporary decal). Should have a strict policy in residence halls for “Quiet Time”

-Class Representative and Advisor Meetings to occur this week
-“Is Your Piggy Bank Shrinking” – Thursday, Nov. 8th at 6pm, SU B106
-Class Meetings: Monday, Nov. 12th at 1pm
-Elections (BLC 101), PR (BLC 104), and Activities (BLC 104) Committee Meetings, Tuesday, Nov. 13th at 12:30pm
-Student Choice Award Nominations: Nov. 13th-15th. Nominees announced 16th, Elections Nov. 27th-28th
-1301 Food Drive: Nov. 12th-16th. Please donate non-perishable food items to the dining hall.

CCSGA EXEC. MINUTES
October 26, 2012
·         Welcome
·         Officer Reports
-Alysha: Pen Campaign (ask opinions about…see if there are  any “tweaks” that need to be made), Fundraiser (Both topics tabled). Constitutional Review meeting on Oct. 30th (should make changes to officer/senator positions and that Exec. Board shouldn’t meet for Allocations).
-Kara: Amanda Strickland said they presented last year, but may have not attended the workshop – may be the reason as to why the budget was not present for review this semester.
-Alex: Text box and classes were a problem for Savory nominations. There was campaigning involved. Should we only open votes/nominations to Jr’s and Sr’s? Expand it to all classes? Should be taken up with Election’s Committee.
-Caroline: A lot of good feedback from Cabinet. Momentum Scholarships. Campus would like more opportunities for activities over the weekends. 1st years and at large members felt honored for attending.
·         “We Choose Honor” Campaign
-Letter to Faculty – Friendly reminder to Faculty about nominations (Nov. 5th)
-Finalize Plague – should be purple and have on it that it’s sponsored by SGA. State the four pillars of honor
-Decide on chapel ad contact Rev. Roy: Dec. 5th should be tentative date for Chapel. Alysha will contact Rev. Roy and ask for “5 minutes” to present award and ask for chapel to be an FAS credit.
·         New Traditions
-Open forum feedback: campus wide philanthropy project, pageants, and maybe a signature event for SGA.
-Next steps: Survey to Student Body, put link for SGA blog and Facebook page in Daily Blast

·         Officer Reports

-Alysha: Pen Campaign, faculty need prompting to when we’re going to give them pens in the classroom. Trial month will be in November (give 2-3 pens to each member). Re-vote on process of pen campaign

-Kara: Next allocations meeting will be Oct. 23rd.

-Alex: Nov. 13th will be the next Election’s Committee meeting. Savory awards dates to nominate: Oct. 23rd-25th. Voting: Oct. 30th-31st.

·         “We Choose Honor” Campaign

-Letter to Faculty – Oct. 22nd deadline (remove names from nominations)

-Plague writing (what to put on the plaque)

-Present to Senate on how to honor student in the “We Choose Honor” student award

·         Fundraiser Ideas – Kara will present

-President for a Day and/or T-shirts

-Involve Senate in decision process (either one or two fundraisers)

-Tara Doleskin: Beauty Pageant – fundraiser to give back to school; scholarships/dorms (upper class)

-Amanda Blue (Ana Yanes): each Senior would plant a purple plant/garden; address the need to connect Seniors/alumnae; the garden would be on the green in front of the alumnae hall/columns/or cottages

-Annelise Childers: Christmas Ornament put on the Christmas tree from each class; All students compete in doing a design-voted by faculty/staff; instead make it by each organization on campus/charity; “holiday” ornament design for those who don’t celebrate Christmas

-Andrea: Do an event for “Relay for Life”- either hosting or participating in the event; Special Olympics/charity opportunities; pick a different organization (event) every year because there are many; Do a charity fair – maybe for Follies or Ludy Bowl/each class pick a charity

-Tranese Heatley: Talent showcase for students (Night of the Arts); “CC Idols”-branch out with different talents; make it more than one night/or one night event in Cottingham

-Claudia Binding: Athletic pep rallies (host in gym)

-Caroline Kelly: CCPD officer appreciation day

-Chloe Mattison: Grandparent’s Day

-Heather Dunham: “Ms. Ludy Bowl” (in conjunction with pageant idea)
