CCSGA EXEC. MINUTES

September 14, 2012

·         Welcome

·         Officer Reports

-Vice President: 1st year speeches went really well – many came in attendance. Thought about having Senate approve minutes at every meeting (may want to add something to the minutes, take away, etc.). Ms. Beth and Mr. Chris from the Bookstore want feedback – wants to speak to the officers. Finalized the Senate Retreat, and wants to incorporate a powerpoint presentation of Robert’s Rules.

-Allocations: Planning for 1st meeting (September 25th). 4 or 5 organizations are planning to be in attendance and will be expressing thoughts about the “We Choose Honor” campaign.

-Elections: Theme of the Savory Awards is “I’m a CC girl, in a CC world”. Opening and closing time for voting in first year elections is, 9am 9/18-5pm 9/20. Ideas are pending for the Student Choice Awards promotion.

·         Review of Calendar

-Let the PR chair and Activities chair know that they’re to promote for SGA as a WHOLE. Not just their class.

Exec. Meeting Minutes September 21, 2012

CCSGA EXEC. MINUTES

September 21, 2012

·         Welcome

·         Officer Reports

-Alysha: Talking is an issue (taking turns and staying on topic in Senate Meetings) will address. Have an open floor at the end of the meeting to lessen disruptions. Changed communication activity to “writing instructions on how to make a sandwich”. Dean Budden’s going to do the powerpoint on Robert’s Rules. Explanation of liaison to Faculty/Staff and Students.

-Caroline: 9/13 – cabinet participation was good. Athletes wants more participation at games (free for students). Students want more new traditions on campus. CCAB decided that maybe next year they would make Sr. and 1st year class to make a float together. Also to have a pageant. Having concerns that pageant could get too competitive. Do a survey or open forum to address this new addition to the college. Also, cabinet wanted to see how they could revive and change the Honors and Awards program – to

be “less formal” (should want to do an open forum or survey as well).

Suggestions: Evening Students?

Publicizing: Pen Campaign. Senate will pass out to other peers showing that SGA is paying attention to their good actions. Suggestions: -feels elementary. Shouldn’t reward students for what they should be doing. Flyers, emails, etc. instead of rewards. Leave the pen in students’ mailboxes anonymously with a note. Not only should students be rewarded for good actions but with acts of leadership as well.

Pen Campaign will go forth
